Welcome to the third day of our walk along this amazing Welsh canal. Having experienced the worst rain in our walking careers on the day before (seriously, it was awful), we are pleased to report that things improved a lot for this 10 mile walk from Pontypool to Newport.
The downpour continues in Part 2 of Crickhowell to Pontypool. We were just over halfway and soaking wet. Heading off from Llanfoist Wharf (our location at the end of Part 1) we battled on though the weather which seemed to be getting worse by the minute. We were still able to take in the views of … Continue reading Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal: Crickhowell to Pontypool, Part 2
Welcome to the second day of our adventure walking the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal in Wales. Welcome to part 1 of the final instalment of our Kennet & Avon canal saga... well, sort of. it depends on your definition of 'Kennet & Avon Canal'. If we are referring solely to the man-made canal and not the entire navigation of water that includes the River Avon and the River Kennet, then this is … Continue reading Kennet & Avon Canal: Thatcham to Reading, Part 1

Starting at Brecon, the main waterway makes its way south, following the River Usk for much of its journey, to the city of Newport. There is … Continue reading Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal: Brecon to Crickhowell, Part 1
